Merret Introduce Replenishment Substitution

It goes without saying that if a product is not available to purchase the customer is unable to buy it. Effective stock replenishment is therefore imperative to meet customer expectations and increase product sales.

In light of this Merret have introduced a new concept called ‘Replenishment Substitution’. This new concept will enable retailers to replenish their stores with a similar product if the original product that was requested is unavailable. By utilising this function retailers will soon be able to optimise stock levels within their stores, thus reducing the risk of un-stocked shelves.

Renny Wadsworth, Development Manager for Merret commented, “This new function is an excellent way for retailers to gain a greater return on their investment. By having more products available within the store retailers are consequently able to offer a higher level of customer service and maximise sales potential”.

RF Picking Introduced to Merret

RF picking is a new concept that has been introduced to the Merret core package. RF Picking has replaced the traditional Hand Held Terminal (HHT) Process that was previously used to create picks within the DC.

The RF (Radio Frequency) Picking works via the IBM latest IS Server and is focussed upon the utilisation of ‘real time’ information that is continuously transferred between the RF Scanners and the Merret System, rather than the batch-processed data that was previously used on the HHT.

The new concept introduced by Merret differs from the original HHT process. These differences include:Real Time picker performance/availability, Picking snake is being concentrated in real-time which will automatically compensate for short of missed picks and Revolutionise Pick Management visibility.

Renny Wadsworth, Development Manager for Merret commented, “By introducing RF Picking retailers will soon be able to notice dramatic improvements in both picking productivity and picking accuracy, thus increasing overall business profitability”.

Merret introduces improved Quality Control functions

The DC is one of a number of areas of the supply chain that highlights the need for high control and efficiency levels.
